During Black History Month, WAFF 48 featured the remarkable journey of Tec-Masters Founder and CEO, Dr. Marvin Carroll. In an interview with Liz Hurley, Dr. Carroll shared the deeply personal story behind the company’s beginnings and the leadership philosophy that continues to guide its growth today.
Dr. Carroll’s path to success was not conventional. Raised in poverty and overcoming significant speech challenges as a child, he learned early that adversity does not define destiny. Through perseverance, faith, and an unwavering commitment to education, he built a career dedicated to service and excellence.
That commitment ultimately led to the founding of Tec-Masters, a company established not simply to succeed, but to serve.
A Foundation Built on Service
From its inception, Tec-Masters has operated on a simple principle: serve first.
Service to customers. Service to employees.
Service to community.
Under Dr. Carroll’s leadership, this philosophy has shaped a culture focused on integrity, technical excellence, and mission impact. Today, Tec-Masters delivers high-quality engineering, technical, and professional solutions supporting critical national defense and government missions.
Leadership Through Resilience
In his WAFF 48 interview, Dr. Carroll emphasized that leadership is not about titles or recognition. It is about responsibility. It is about lifting others while building something that lasts beyond yourself.
His journey serves as a powerful reminder that barriers can become building blocks. What began as a personal pursuit of opportunity has grown into one of the nation’s respected Black-owned engineering firms, with a legacy rooted in faith, discipline, and service.
Continuing the Legacy
As Tec-Masters looks toward the future, the principles that shaped its founding remain unchanged. We continue to invest in our people, deliver excellence to our customers, and contribute meaningfully to the communities we serve.
We are grateful to Liz Hurley and the WAFF 48 team for sharing Dr. Carroll’s inspiring story.
