Augmented Reality (AR)
Using advanced Augmented Reality (AR) technologies, Tec-Masters is working to enhance battlefield environments and emergency situations by offering perceptually enriched experiences. For example, there is increased value potential if a user, working in a real-world environment that demands increased decision speed and reaction time, is presented with an environment and object information overlay of that real-world environment that provides the information enabling those increases.
And this information can be much more than a display of data; it can be an integration of immersive sensations perceived as natural parts of the environment. Given wearable sensors, environmental feedback can be aural, haptic, thermal as well as visual. AR is already being used to display a building’s structures and systems super-imposed on a real-life view to increase firefighter response times. Could it be of value to a First Responder who could more accurately determine a victim’s true physical condition when viewing multiple types of sensory images?
Virtual Reality (VR)
In Virtual Reality, Tec-Masters is working on variable immersive simulations for wargaming environments and experiments. We support virtual simulations involving real people operating simulated systems (fielded simulators or trainers). These virtual simulations inject the Warfighter (a Human-in-the-Loop) into a central role by exercising motor control skills (e.g., flying jet or tank simulator), decision making skills (e.g., committing fire control resources to action), or communication skills (e.g., as members of a C4I team).
Mixed Reality (MR)
Tec-Masters is working with the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualizations. This “mixed reality” occurs not in one world or the other, but as a mix between real and virtual environments. Because it is a completely immersive technology, mixed reality presents holographic images that appear to interact with the real world. Anchoring virtual objects to real-world objects, we use Head Mounted Displays (HMDs) and motion controllers to interact with these co-existing physical and digital objects in real time.
Because of its background in continuous process improvement, Tec-Masters is studying blockchain application development to support Government agencies by advancing different use cases for mission success. One area of our focus is based on the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate’s (S&T) interest in using blockchain technology to prevent forgery and counterfeiting of certificates and licenses. Because the overarching Homeland Security mission includes the need to issue entitlements, licenses and certifications for a variety of purposes including travel, citizenship, employment eligibility, immigration status and supply chain security, Tec-Masters is studying blockchain technology as it applies to tracking document changes and validity.
