Our training and course development staff has extensive
experience in course design, instructional development, and conducting
and managing instructional programs. Our experience includes professional
development courses for adult learners as well as technical courses. We
have experience in providing instruction in the traditional classroom
or in a small group setting. Our approach to training development follows
the tried and proven Instructional Systems Design (ISD) model.
This is the initial phase of the development process. Job performance
requirements are the basis for any training. To fully define these requirements
and thereby establish the foundation of all sequent development, an analysis
is performed. The following types of analysis will be used to collect
and analyze all relevant data and determine what skills or knowledge should
be targeted for training: situational analysis, audience analysis, task
analysis objective analysis, media analysis, technology analysis, extant-analysis,
and critical-incident analysis.
The design phase uses the conclusions from the analysis phase to develop
a course design document. The design document provides an outline for
a specific learning event identified during the analysis process. In addition,
the document will contain a project schedule, project team identification,
media specifications, content structure, and configuration control.
During the development phase, the outline in the course design document
is transformed from a concept to a courseware reality. The following activities
are essential to make this happen: instructional design, schedules of
instruction, lesson objectives, test items, content development, programming,
graphics, audio, video production, and quality assurance / control (on-going;
non-linear).
The implementation of the curriculum will be the culmination of an extensive
communications and marketing effort. The lesson materials have been reviewed
and tested to ensure that they meet customer expectations. The courseware
and adjunctive materials are now ready for use.
The evaluation of the program is an on going process. This phase of the
development process focuses on summative evaluation or how to measure
the effectiveness of the training intervention.
