Minimum/General Experience: Shall have experience in data communications systems and shall be capable of analyzing, designing, documenting, specifying and implementing communications systems requirements. Experience shall include POSIX, GOSIP, and open systems, Local Area networks, Message Switching Systems, Packet Switching Systems, and twisted pairs environments. Experience in these areas must include hardware, software, and interfaces. Must be highly knowledgeable of industry and Government publications standards, and state of the art technologies related to data communication systems. This knowledge must provide a basis for projection of future data communication environments. Shall be knowledgeable of applicable industry and Government standards for POSIX, GOSIP, X-Windows, and open systems. Shall have data communications experience in activities such as communications-computer system evaluation, installation, maintenance, switched networks, or technical control facilities. Shall have four years experience in communication systems, two of those years shall be specific experience with data communications systems. Experience with mainframe to microcomputer communications, distributed systems, and coordination of systems upgrades with application programmers and users is desired.. Experience in these areas should include hardware, software, and interfaces in an open systems environment.
Functional Responsibilities: Duties include analyzing, designing, specifying, documenting, and implementing communications systems requirements to support the distributed functionality of a software engineering environment, and projecting and documenting future multimedia communications requirements.
Minimum Education: Shall possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or as stated above for Entry Level.
